Kiaora, Welcome to our B&B, Owhiro Bay Wellington
ROCK ART MUSEUM & MINI GOLF
The rock artist, Carl Gifford has displayed a lot of his
artwork and created mini golf course on the site. It is just 20 minutes walk from Nature's Touch
Guest House.
WALKWAY
If you would like to stretch your legs,
there is a walkway near by. It takes about 5 minutes' walk to the entrance
and another 7 ~ 10 minutes' walk to the lookout. You will see great views of
the southern suburbs and the South Island when it is clear.
MARINE RESERVE
The gate to the reserve is about 10 minutes' walk along the
coast from Nature's Touch Guest House. There is an information building, and
you can learn about the marine life in the area. Seals colony is about 1
hours walk from Nature's Touch. Seals come between May and October.
About Owhiro Bay
*Owhiro
in Maori means "moonless night".
*You will see a stream from the balcony in your bedroom. The
bottom of the cliff was used by early Maori tribes as a cooking area.
Amenities
*Dairy (a small supermarket / convenience
store) is just across the road.
*New World Supermarket is in the Island Bay shopping area on
Medway, which is off The Parade, closes at 10pm.
*A post box is about 20m past the dairy.
*A cafe called THE BACH is about 10 minutes' walk along the coast
going left alongThe Esplanade. Closes at 7pm in summer
*There are a few cafes and takeaway shops in
theIsland Bay
shopping
area, it takes about 5 minutes by car.
*Alternatively, there are a few cafes and takeaway shops in the
Brooklyn shopping area. It also takes about 5 minutes by car, just up Happy
Valley Rd, to the first traffic light.
